greetings to all, hi and hello. right, so regarding several comments made some 11 days ago about males and their fetish for driving fast. something i have recently had cause to consider; what the words "four wheel drive" do to a guys mental stability and judgement. no doubt about it, 4wd is fun. it must be the total sense of empowerment that overwhelms us. watch or look at any ad featureing a 4wd vehicle and you see that of course thes e vehicles can go anywhere on this earth, no prob. so we try and prove it ourselves. therein the mistake lies. oh and dreadful it is. my my, the horrific pain it causes the macho male to have ask someone to pull out his machine that he's been bragging about and possibly, (God forbid!) have to pulled out by a rival truck brand. my one experience with getting pulled out (lesson learned: where there's water and dirt, there's mud. get over it. (cuz you can't get through it) common knowledge, yes, unless your finger is on the 4wd switch and you've got an arrogant grin on your face) was considerably softened by the fact that it was a john deere that got the honors of doing so. but what prompted me to write this was my most recent experience with the falability of 4wd. it happenened this morn on the way to school about halfway down the drive (thats where the corner is). on the drive there was half inch of snow on top of a layer of ice. now i had gone down it erlier when i went to pick up mom from work. used 4wd, no prob. brought mom home an tried gouing up in 2wd, no go. 4wd did just fine. so of course the next logical step (being in a curious and self-destructive state of mind) was to see what it was like going down in 2wd. so im going down and i apply the brakes cuz thats neccessary on our hill. no slow down. and i think to my self, hey you know this aint workin. (i was somewhat rational you see) so i at least had the presence of mind to stick it in 4wd real quick. no help. then we come to the corner an i turn the wheel cuz if you follow the drive thats one less fence and house to go through before you hit the road. i'd never traveled in a vehicle goin g completely sideways before. what fun. so we hit the grass an i'm thinkin about how my pickups gonna get screwed up when it rolls. and then it doesn't roll which is good cuz a wasn't really in the proper state of mind to enjoy the ride. so we finally stop and she crawls easily through the 6 inches of snow on the ground back onto the drive. kind of anti climatic i thouhgt. i deserve to at leest gotten stuck. then stephanie told me she wasn't wearing her sealtbelt. God blesses us even when we don't deserve it.12:56 email me permalink / commentary (0)
