let's say you're in a group discussion. it can be on anything, from aardvarks to Zen. let's say jim makes a good point, and alex takes jim's point and argues against it. but you decide you've got something to say in favor. which is correct to say as soon as you can interrupt alex?"it is a good point that jim makes though, ..." -or-
"it was a good point ttat jim made though, ..."
if the conversation had already moved on, i would definately say the latter, but if it's still ongoing i'm not sure which to say, since jim already made the point (past tense), but could still be arguing it (present tense). for instance, if jim had answered alex, and now alex was on his second rebuttel.
