since i got out of school, i've been rediscovering some of the joys of childhood in the arena of food. first it was peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches last summer. ahh, that's good stuff. a couple weeks later it was a derivative, peanut butter and honey. i remember having those for lunch in first grade.then when i got out here i happened across koolaid one day and decided to give it a go. we happen to have run out of white sugar this afternoon, which explains why my grape koolaid has a lovely aftertaste of maple flavoring that one usually associates with brown sugar.
i have a tendency to freeze or at least severly chill my candy bars before i eat them. i have since learned that this is somewhat detrimental when trying to eat a babyruth bar. the caramel is absolutely impervious to chewing, and will only break off if sufficient force is supplied. meanwhile, freezing makes the thin coating of chocolate brittle. so a bite results in a small explosion of peanuts and chocolate flakes. since you can't get your teeth all the way through the caramel, it's hard to close your mouth far enough to contain all the shrapnel. moral of the story? don't freeze it. not sure you wanted to hear all htat but you got it.
