<< Sarcasm Scale >>

An explanation...

[0] = drop dead serious

[1] = no sarcasm, take it at face value

[2] = light banter

[3] = sarcastic, but still in a good mood

[4] = very sarcastic, almost enough to make you take a step back and say, "whoa"

[5] = very sarcastic, perhaps a skosh overboard [3] (and typically it means I'm upset)

sensory perception.

location

the hangar--in a pool of light; surrounded by twilight.  No sunset light left, no stars yet to be seen.

background noise

zombie nation, kernkraft 4000

crickets

an AirJamaica A319 taking off runway 12

light

flourescent, two four foot bulbs above me

fifteen degrees from the horizon, thirty south of where the sun set an hour ago, the moon:  a slim crescent

fifteen degrees above the moon, the aforemention planet

...moving clockwise

the last faint traces of light on the horizon, a barely discernable line between clouds and sky above

the tower beacon, steady and stately; white, green, white, green, white

the airport entrance road, street lights in steady pattern slashing across the perimeter, headlights hauling past

above, the city of Kingston twinkling upwards from Downtown to New Kingston to the Red Hills

the darkness of the Blue Mountains, above which the stars will show soon

the lights of Harbour View, a small collection compared to Kingston 120 degrees previous

random twinklings of ships to the south, some at anchor, some under steam

the light pouring from the office, down the stairs, glinting off the Toyota

the red beacon atop the radar tower, the radar tower awash in orange glow from the streetlights next to it

an AirJamaica Airbus 319 taking off runway 12, gear coming up, Dr. Bird insignia on the tail softly lit, beacons and strobes flashing

back to the moon:  a slim crescent.
