supper: a light meal served late in the evening (m-w.com).- one 591mL Pepsi, imported from Jamaica
- one pack Little Debbie Rolls, imported from the USA
- one partial bag Tostitos nacho chips, product of Mexico, exported to Jamaica, partially et, then re-imported into Mexico.
- one partial can La Costena salsa verde, product of Mexico, exported to Jamaica, re-imported into Mexico still sealed
- one partial can Pringls SC&O chips, product of the USA, shipped to Jamaica via Mexico, partially et, then imported into Mexico.
mmm, good and healthy. time spent disassembling, cleaning up salsa from, and reassembling keyboard: four minutes.
i had a good flight over, which was nice for a change. last time i was wandering around the caribbean skies an infant alberto was busy making his presence felt. jimmy made some snide comment about me not wearing a tie because i've been living in Jamaica too long. I for one don't think I really need to wear the tie (or the uniform for that manner) when all the same people i saw today saw me yesterday grubbing about in my maintenance clothes smelling liberally of turbine fuel.
paul and i finally bit the bullet and did some pre-emptive maintenance work on our dispersal plane, changing out some auxillary fuel pumps that were on their way downhill. this involved mucking about in the bottom of the fuel tank where two years' accumulation of slime was growing. on a 747 you'd put on a hose-supplied respirator mask and walk around in the tank. on a king air you work up from the bottom. this means you're in the open air, but it also means that gravity sends the remaining two gallons of unused fuel in your direction.
paul had gotten the joy of getting all the fuel out the day before because i was off galavanting around in the hills again. the ladies in ben's church put on a tea party at Craighton House in irish town. this afforded us an excellent oppurtunity to play some ultimate frisbee...who were we to turn down such an oppurtunity? well, and ben told us we had to come :P.
